Ski lifts accessible to all

Easy boarding and trained staff

At Méribel, boarding ski lifts no longer has to be a concern: several lifts are specially equipped to simplify access for skiers with disabilities. Spacious gondolas, access ramps, and dedicated pre-boarding zones—all are designed to ensure that getting into the cabin (or onto the chairlift) is smooth and stress-free, taking only moments.

Our on-site teams are also trained to assist you: they can slow down or stop the lift to ensure a gentle and safe boarding experience. They are available to help handle sit-skis, dualskis, or any adaptive skiing equipment you may need. The goal? To minimize your time in queues and maximize your time on the slopes!

An adaptive beginner zone

To help you start off right, MĂ©ribel offers dedicated learning areas: covered conveyor belts, gentle slopes, and clearly marked signage. Skiers learning to ride in a seated position can practice safely and confidently. Even during peak season, these beginner zones remain accessible and secure, thanks to clear signs and thoughtful layouts.

Once you're comfortable, you can set off to explore Méribel’s vast ski area, which connects to the entire 3 Vallées network. A helpful tip: plan your routes ahead of time during busy hours so you can benefit from personalized assistance if needed.

Handiski instructors and specialized equipment: A winning combination

Professionals to support you

Skiing with reduced mobility sometimes requires specific technical guidance. In Méribel, several ski schools offer instructors specially trained in adaptive skiing (handiski). Their mission: to share their passion for skiing while adapting to your needs and skill level. They are thoroughly familiar with sit-skis and other specialized equipment and will guide you through your first turns—or help you tackle more challenging slopes if you're already confident. Whether you're using a sit-ski, a piloted dualski, a tandemski, or simply need some guidance, you'll be supported by an experienced professional who can manage speed, direction, and balance. The goal: maximum thrills in complete safety!

A wide range of equipment

Accessibility at MĂ©ribel goes far beyond ski lifts. The resort offers a wide range of specialized equipment:

  • Sit-ski and dualski: Perfect for skiing in a seated position, either independently or with help from an instructor.

  • Tandemski: Ideal for skiers who prefer not to steer themselves—the instructor handles it all while you enjoy the ride and the view.

  • Uniski/biski: Great options for those who can stand but need extra support for balance.

Most of this equipment is available through local ski schools or specialized rental shops. Be sure to book in advance—especially during peak season—to ensure you get the sit-ski or adaptive gear that suits your needs and preferences.

Discounted Rate: 50% Off for Skiers with Disabilities

Simple conditions

In MĂ©ribel, accessibility is also reflected in its pricing policy. Individuals holding a disability card (or a mobility inclusion card with a disability rate of 80% or more) are entitled to a 50% discount on 4-hour, day, or multi-day ski passes. A great way to extend the fun at a lower cost!

To take advantage of this offer, simply present your disability card at the ticket office when purchasing your pass. Be sure to check that your card is valid before you leave, especially if you’re planning an extended stay.

Discount for a companion too

The discount also applies to an accompanying person, provided the disability card clearly states "Requires accompaniment" or "Requires accompaniment – Visual impairment". The companion can purchase the same pass (same duration and ski area), also at 50% off.

To make the process smoother, both tickets must be purchased at the same time and with a single payment.

A village entirely designed for PRM (Persons with Reduced Mobility)

Accessible accommodation at your fingertips

Méribel doesn’t just adapt its slopes—the entire village is committed to making its accommodations and services more accessible. Several hotels and tourist residences offer specially equipped rooms: widened doors, walk-in showers, support bars, and more. Some independent chalets have also redesigned their interiors to ease movement in a wheelchair.

You’ll also find PRM-designated parking spaces, generally located close to key facilities (Tourist Office, Olympic Park, snow front, etc.). Ramps and elevators make it easy to access shops—no need to weave between snowy sidewalks.

Accessible no-ski activities

Want to enjoy more than just skiing? Méribel offers a wide range of après-ski activities suitable for everyone!

  • The Olympic Park: This facility includes an ice rink, swimming pool, bowling alley, and wellness area. It’s accessible via elevator, with spacious changing rooms equipped for PRM use.

  • The Cinema: Fully accessible on one level, with dedicated wheelchair seating—perfect for a movie break between ski sessions or in the evening.

  • Snowshoe Trails on Marked Paths: Some winter walking trails have been adapted to welcome people with reduced mobility, especially if you have an electric wheelchair suited for snowy terrain.

  • Station Shuttle: Depending on the season, MĂ©ribel offers free shuttles to help you get around. Check schedules and vehicle types—some buses are equipped with access ramps.

Simplified planning for a worry-free stay

Plan ahead to make the most of your trip

To enjoy a stress-free holiday, a little preparation goes a long way. We recommend booking your accommodation in advance while clearly specifying your accessibility needs. It’s also a good idea to contact the ski school and equipment rental service beforehand to ensure availability of handiski gear. If you're traveling by train or bus, be sure to check the accessibility services at your arrival station (such as Moûtiers): assistance may be available to help you board or disembark comfortably.
